Advocating for Public Policy: A Strategic Priority for Save the Children Bolivia (2025–2027)

Save the Children Bolivia’s Country Strategy for 2025–2027 places strong emphasis on public policy advocacy, particularly focused on ensuring the rights of children and adolescents are fully upheld.

In this strategic period 2025-2027, we will prioritize the empowerment of children and adolescents to actively participate in public policy advocacy, child-focused investment processes, and social accountability. To make this possible, building strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders is essential. These alliances will allow us to strengthen mutual capacities and contribute to the Bolivian State’s ability to fulfil its role as guarantor of children’s rights.

Our advocacy efforts will focus on three key dimensions:

  1. legal and regulatory frameworks;
  2. planning and management processes for public policies focused on children, adolescents and youth;
  3. the allocation of public investment.

These three areas are directly linked to the creation or strengthening of public policy. The current context in Bolivia—marked by upcoming national elections in August and the potential transition to a new government—presents both opportunities and challenges. A new administration would likely bring about fresh legislative agendas, the design of a new five-year Economic and Social Development Plan (PDES), and a revised national development framework. Children’s issues must be at the heart of these new agendas, guided by the priorities set by the incoming government.
