40 Years Walking Hand in Hand with Bolivian Children

Forty years ago, on November 11, 1985, Save the Children arrived in Bolivia with a clear conviction: that every girl, boy and adolescent should have the opportunity to grow up protected and fully enjoy their rights to survival, protection, development and participation.

Four decades later, we celebrate a journey built hand in hand with Bolivian children—accompanying their smiles, their dreams, and their right to a better future.

Throughout these years, our work in health and nutrition, education, child protection, governance, child poverty reduction and humanitarian response has transformed lives and entire communities, opening pathways toward a fairer, more inclusive and more equitable country.

Behind every action and every goal achieved, there is a story, a smile and the strength of collective work with communities, allies, partners and donors who share the same purpose: ensuring that no child is left behind.

To mark this anniversary, we held gatherings in La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz to express our gratitude, reflect, and renew our commitment to those who inspire every step we take: the girls, boys and adolescents of Bolivia.

This journey has not been easy. Each challenge reminds us why we remain here—to reach the very last child in the country.

Thank you for being part of this story that beats with hope and action.

Let us continue joining efforts and investing together in a future where every smile counts, and where children remain at the heart of everything we do.
